Serving Corporate Real Estate Needs For Over Sixty Years. The Society was founded in 1941 when the United States War Department asked a select group of industrial real estate brokers to locate facilities for war production. Following World War II, the Society designees were instrumental in identifying production and distribution centers to meet the demand for industrial production in the United States. The Society, formerly known as the Society of Industrial Realtors became the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors in 1986, encouraging practitioners in the burgeoning office property market to achieve the prestigious designation.
